I promise to build a Lappeenranta where everyone feels welcome, heard, and able to find their place in society. A multicultural Lappeenranta is a strength, and I want to improve the integration of working immigrants and their families—language skills, employment, and community engagement are key to successful integration.
Lappeenranta is a city which wins from being on the border of global East and West
This means enormous potential that is currently not being utilized. I have lived and worked in Finland, Russia, China, and the United States, and I understand how Lappeenranta's geographical location should be our greatest advantage. I will do everything I can to ensure that, once the geopolitical situation allows, we can once again use our strategic position to attract investments, businesses, and international cooperation. Until then, I will advocate for financial support for our city (and Eastern Finland as a whole), which has suffered the most due to closed borders.
Lappeenranta, where sustainable development and economic well-being go hand in hand
I promise to promote a city where environmental responsibility brings new opportunities rather than economic decline. I work for sustainable solutions both in businesses and policymaking – Lappeenranta can be a leader in the green transition while creating new jobs and attracting investments.
ABOUT ME
My name is Ivan Deviatkin. I am 34 years old father of a 9 years old boy. I come from a small provincial town in Russia. In 2012, I moved to Lappeenranta for my studies, where I completed my postgraduate studies in ecology. Currently, I work as an environmental impact assessment manager in a major Finnish company. In Lappeenranta, I found a second home where my son was born.
MOTIVATION TO RUN FOR ELECTIONS
In recent years, Finland has undergone significant changes, which have not always been for the better. I am convinced that now, more than ever, it is important for us to come together and ensure that all our voices are heard. Therefore, I am pleased to announce that I am running as a candidate in the upcoming elections in Lappeenranta.
MY MISSION
I stand for inclusive democracy, which makes Lappeenranta our common home, regardless of origin. I believe that every resident of our city has the right to equal and fair treatment.
